Event details:Ready to hit the ski trails and add winter adventure into your lives? The Green Mountain Adaptive Winter Adventure Family Camp is open to teenage children (ages 14-18) with developmental or cognitive disabilities of active duty military families from any state and any branch of service. Each camper must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian. Campers will spend the weekend developing resilience, problem solving, and cooperation skills while the family member explores ways to incorporate winter activities into family settings. Campers and their family members will enjoy adaptive alpine and/or snowboarding lessons provided by Stowe Mountain Resort Ski and Snowboard School’s Adaptive program, Nordic skiing at the famous Trapp Family Lodge, snowshoeing, ice skating, winter campfires, and more. Accommodations and after ski activities will be provided at The Golden Eagle Resort in Stowe Village.
There is no registration fee for the camp. Support for travel, lodging, lessons, equipment, and meals is provided by a grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Office of Family Policy, Children and Youth, U.S. Department of Defense, under Award No. 2010-488969-20781.
