The San Juan River is one of the most famous stretches of water in the West. This 58 mile trip is one of the most popular river trips in the country and we can’t wait to show you why! The river flows through spectacular canyons that many have dubbed a “mini Grand Canyon.”
Participants fly into Durango, CO and shuttle to Mexican Hat, UT where our journey begins. The scenery is breath-taking and includes meandering goosenecks combined with rich natural and human history making this trip one you won’t soon forget. Participants are encouraged to work together as they navigate the canyon in paddle rafts, oar boats, stand up paddle boards, and inflatable kayaks. Nights are spent in the canyons sleeping under the stars. The trip ends at the Clay Hills take-out and participants drive back to Durango, CO where they spend the night and fly home the next day.
This trip is open to veterans and active duty service members with a permanent disability. ASA will cover all of the costs associated with the trip including airfare, lodging, transportation, most meals, guides, boats, and adaptive equipment to make the trip more comfortable including accessible portable toilets, beach mats, and raft chairs.
