Whether fishing for fun or competing for the title “Angler of the Year,” the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Bass Tour, a B.A.S.S. sanctioned event, offers anglers with confirmed significant mobility impairments several opportunities each year to compete for fun as well as significant cash and prizes. The Tour's open competition pairs disabled anglers with able-bodied boat partners for two days of fun on the water. Those who can't, or prefer not to, fish from a boat can ply their skills in the bank competition. Both offer a great weekend of fishing, fun, and a great opportunity to make or renew friendships - all in the great outdoors.
The PVA Mid-Atlantic Chapter hosts one of these events on the James River, near Richmond, VA. Our second year, hosted over 65 anglers, boat captains, and volunteers. Families and spectators from around the country also lined the shores of this exciting event to support their favorite anglers. The good news is that all indications point to an even larger event when we host the Old Dominion Brawl again on June 16-18, 2016.
PVA is fortunate to have some really great sponsors such as Minn Kota, Hummingbird, Tracker Boats and many more. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter also enjoys tremendous support from local volunteers and boat captains, as well as support from many Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland Bass Clubs. But, local chapters like ours also need to raise significant levels of funding in order to make these events as gratifying as possible for our anglers and their families. With that in mind, we are looking to organizations like yours to provide local sponsorships for this event. Your help would place you in an elite group of partners whose generosity enables challenged veterans and non-veterans alike to enjoy two days of friendly competition in an environment where the only thing they need to worry about is showing up.
