Wounded Warriors to Participate in 2012 Nation’s Triathlon as Part of Disabled Sports USA’s Team Warfighter Sports

Disabled Sports USA and PCI Strategic Management sponsor a team of severely injured service members undergoing therapy at Walter Reed Military Medical Center to swim, bike and run in paratriathlon category


Rockville, MD – September 6, 2012- Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA), in partnership with PCI Strategic Management, announced their sponsorship of Team Warfighter Sports’ participation at the 7th Annual Nation’s Triathlon this Sunday, September 9, 2012 starting at 7am in Washington, DC.  Wounded warriors undergoing therapy at Walter Reed Military Medical Center will test their abilities while competing in this largest international distance triathlon, sanctioned by the USA Triathlon, which includes a 1.5k swim in the Potomac River, 40k bike course through DC, and a 10k run through Washington, DC’s historical landmarks.

Team Warfighter Sports will include wounded warriors who have sustained various injuries, including double and single leg amputations and visual impairments, while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  “Disabled Sports USA is pleased and honored to partner with the PCI Strategic Management to provide an opportunity for our nation’s wounded warriors to compete and excel as athletes,” said Kirk Bauer, JD, executive director of Disabled Sports USA and a disabled Vietnam veteran.
